In case you haven’t noticed, we frequently write about artists within the Griselda umbrella. Reason being, carving out a niche has been a long time in the making for this website. Please understand the direction we are headed and the step to elevate toward interviewing only artists that we believe in.
With that being said – we want to connect the dots with one masked man we noticed in attendance at Supply and Demand Brooklyn 2021. Sadhugold rocked the all-gold mask as he has yet to reveal his identity. I quickly grew accustomed to a whole different pace standing next to our photographer pointing him to capture photos.
In order to deliver results for the blog I wrote for at the time – I truly took the time to visit each and every clothing, records + merchandise stand. I enjoyed the artwork in the center with 1000 words yearbook imagery and vinyl from the likes of Rick James and others.
Sadhugold began his forays into musical production with Audacity. He has taken time to model his craft and perfect the fine-tuned nature of his hip-hop realm. It is difficult to discover information about him other than tapping in regularly via social media. We must just appreciate through music.
Coming from Philadelphia, we do know Sadhu was a major reason for Jah Monte’s connection to newfound collaboration. As you might notice in artwork, animation plays a role in the imagery. His background in animation coupled with a mystic nature make this man quite the character. Some producers exist to defy the laws of physics and Sadhugold most definitely will.
Overall, his sonic production spans wavelengths with immense magnitude. The depth and persona that the records allow an artist to encounter speak volumes and work wonders. Sadhu is that guy much like an MF Doom or Madlib in the way that his art bends the concept of time. The internal audio dynamics exhibit a work ethic that strives to reach mastery.
Much adieu to the masked avenger who genuinely contributes unheralded redeeming qualities through his hunger and drive to leave a legacy.
