MLB SHORTENED SZN IN LIMBO [07/20]

As we enter into uncharted sports territories, the MLB faces an entirely different set of circumstances. As corona hit, the NBA was able to practically fast forward into a playoff atmosphere, while the MLB never even got a chance to get their season started. This provides the MLB with a whole new array of challenges that they must overcome if they wish to complete their sixty game season.

From the beginning, there were a handful of players who decided to opt out of the MLB altogether such as Buster Posey (SF) and David Price(LAD).

During some of the first outings, players from the Dodgers, Yankees, Nationals and Giants all knelt during the national anthem. Mookie Betts has become somewhat of a face for the MLB kneeling movement behind his $365M contract extension with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

It will be interesting to see how things continue to play out and if the season finishes up. Multiple games have already been cancelled due to COVID outbreaks. The MLB is not in any type of bubble environment so it will be intriguing to see if their league is able to persevere without major downfall.

Many of the solutions to these coronavirus related issues are being formulated on the spot. Also, with the unprecedented nature of these sporting events some networks have been trying their hardest to simulate regular play.

FOX Sports decided to try inserting “virtual fans” during the Cubs Brewers game and it was comedic and strange.

Also, during gameplay there have been a few heated “socially distant arguments” which have proved to be downright hilarious in their own right.

Regardless, we are experiencing trying times. Some are trying their hardest to resume business as normal, some are trying to do the most and some are being wise and not trying at all (taking a year off)
