Shady Records, Joseph Kahn and Alex “Kid Twist” Larsen are collectively invested in their cinematic phenomenon titled, ‘Bodied.’ The movie originally premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7th.
The film’s script is written by former battle rap champion, Alex “Kid Twist” Larsen. The director, Joseph Kahn, also shot the video for “Without Me”
“In battle rap, people would say the meanest, craziest, most racist things, and then they would get a beer together, and they would be friends. I wanted to explore that in a movie.” (Kahn)
The movie satirically details a white, purportedly progressive graduate student who infiltrates a community of diverse battle rappers for the sake of an edgy thesis.
Eminem will contribute original content for the movie’s soundtrack with collaboration from his manager, Paul Rosenberg.
Recently, Em’s popularized term, “stan” was officially adopted in the Oxford English Dictionary as “an overzealous or obsessive fan of a particular celebrity.”
To celebrate the cultural relevance of the song (nearly 20 years later) Shady and his team released a Stan capsule.
Eminem’s intricate vocabulary and detailed storytelling yielded the infusion of his own word into the common American lexicon.
Bodied features Charlemagne the God from the Breakfast Club and can be expected to release in the first quarter of 2018 (Jan-March.)
